I’ve seen much status whoring, attention whoring, highschool popularity contest whoring, bitching, moaning, and jockeying in the manosphere, in addition to quality content put out. Just as I’ve seen bloggers rise and fall from obscurity – I’ve seen cliques do the same.
I’ve also seen much discussion regarding said “jockeying, moaning, and etc” ranging from outright bitching to frustrated consternation. Some people express surprise at the formation of cliques – others express disappointment. Explanations regarding this behavior and the schisms caused by it are limited.
Therefore – I posit my own thoughts for review:
1. If one holds it to be true, that society actively discourages the formation of men only groups and seeks to break up said groups by adding injections of estrogen to the mix – then one could also hold that most men today are not used to being part of a male only organization. Therefore, one could also reasonably assert that they are not sure how to properly act in a situation – doing the same things they did socially when in mixed groups.
2. If you think about how there are women in the manosphere such as Sunshine Mary and Red Pill Wifey (oft referred to as the groupie-sphere) – then the manosphere is a good as a mixed group. Thus, the jockeying, formation of cliques, and a less single-minded purpose in the search for truth in all things.
Thoughts?

Well before there were the Red Pill dames in the Manosphere, there was some controversy, some nastiness, and some splits amongst the guys. It was predictable and predicted well before it happened. The cliques still exist to a certain degree and there is not total harmony in the ‘sphere. This is the natural ebb and flood of group dynamics, even amongst men and even if just online.
It’s a feature, not a bug.
Makes sense. I was largely unaware of most prior manosphere drama before last year.
Thank you for commenting.
Some specific examples of the behaviour you are referring to would be helpful.
A lot of guys with quite different viewpoints are grouped under the umbrella term “manosphere”, so it’s only natural that dissent will develop, especially when you consider the terrible nature of the advice being given out in some quarters.
Estrogen here, LOL.
The schisms probably aren’t caused by women; don’t guys naturally jockey for domination? Then you have this large group of guys learning alpha techniques and upping their testosterone and then jockeying for position of AMOG.
It is a guy thing to do and if you look at the animal kingdom, you see a lot of it. If there are two equal alphas wouldn’t they splinter off and create their own kingdoms (cliques) rather than share the top spot? Especially if they have differing views on how those kingdoms should be run.
I don’t think the red pill wives like SSM & RPW are what are considered groupies, I think it is the girls on Chateau Heartiste and sites like that. Those girls are on there for the tingles and the attention they get. The wives aren’t seeking validation in male attention; they already have that in their husbands.
There will be women in the manosphere as long as there are wives and girlfriends of red pill men or girls that want to be wives and girlfriends of red pill men (and why wouldn’t girls want that? RP men are HOT!). I don’t frequent the male-dominated sites, though; I find it more fun to hang out with the other red pill women on Girls Being Girls and the RedPillWoman subreddit.
The estrogen portion of the manosphere goes by many names. With the men you rub shoulders with you are called red pill women. The men with whom don’t rub shoulders with call you the groupie-sphere among other things.
I never said that the schisms were caused by women – I said that the presence of the women in the sphere may change social dynamics. Talk of the schism was for context.
It is a guy thing to do, to create new kingdoms and such. I simply was providing another look at the situation gleamed from a conversation I was having the other day.
